About
Welcome to The Original Good Taste Cafe & Restaurant, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Baguio at 8 2600 Lapu Lapu St, Benguet. This charming eatery is not just another dining option in the bustling city but a beloved destination for locals and travelers alike. With a philosophy rooted in hearty, satisfying fare, The Original Good Taste delivers generous portions at prices that won't break the bank.
When you step into the cafe, you'll immediately sense the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is simple and unpretentious, which perfectly embodies the essence of casual dining. As one of our diners, Maikeru, aptly noted, it’s a family-friendly spot where you can comfortably enjoy meals without the pretension found in many upscale establishments. Expect a relaxed vibe and the joy of sharing hearty dishes with loved ones.
Speaking of the menu, prepare your palate for a delightful journey. The restaurant shines in its ability to serve ample portions that can easily satisfy multiple diners. Diners rave about the Lechon and Broccoli—while it may not overwhelm with a signature 'wok hei' flavor typical of traditional Chinese cuisine, its execution is solid, boasting perfectly cooked vegetables and fluffy rice that complement the rich flavors. The fusion of tastes here paves the way for a comforting meal that keeps patrons returning for more.
Another highlight is their famous chicken, praised for its thick, savory breading and generous serving size. If you’re feeling adventurous, pair it with rice for a belly-filling delight. Though the desserts—like the cheesecake—could use a touch of refinement, the overall experience more than compensates for any minor shortcomings desserts may present.
Overall, The Original Good Taste Cafe & Restaurant stands out with its focus on value and satisfaction. It embraces the essence of homestyle cooking with a sprinkling of Filipino flair. This establishment is highly recommended for anyone seeking delicious meals that won't strain their wallets, accompanied by a pleasant dining experience. So if you find yourself in Baguio, make sure to immerse yourself in the goodness of this local favorite. After all, good taste is what this cafe is all about!
“ I liked this place better than the other Good Taste - while there's a crowd, it is still manageable and can still find a seat during lunch hour. No, there's no robot server here unlike the other but you don't pay more either. I ordered the Lechon and Broccoli and their Moringa Citrus juice and...while I was not really wowed, liked it. I was hoping to have some 'wok hei' flavor being a Chinese resto and all but, sadly didn't get that. The portions are huge, the rice and vegetables are perfectly cooked. I would like to come back and try the other dishes. I am still expecting to be wowed afterall. This is a family-friendly place and also very pocket friendly - nothing pretentious, no ambiance nor bells-and-whistles. Just some down-to-earth casual dining. ”
“ We went here for a dinner and raining during the night of July. We ordered their famous chicken along with some tofu. We didn’t expect that the chicken would have a big serving. The taste of the chicken is like the chicken spicy of intramuros walls. It is savory but not that spicy. The breading is thick which was filled with sauce and so very good to partner with rice. The cheesecake we ordered as dessert was not that distinct. They can improve the cakes. At the end we decided to take out our chicken and paid extra 25 pesos for a quality microwaveable container. ”
“ There’s no doubt they serve generous amount of food and one order could already fill 2 tummies. The place is a bit old it’s near / just across the Dangwa terminal. The price is also affordable. We couldn’t try their pastries anymore as we were already full. ”
“ The food is delicious the price is affordable the place is nice and the staff are pleasant. Good taste is a must try ”
